Now It’s Murder: First Victim of Illegal Immigrant’s Molotov Attack on Jewish Group Dies

“Investigators say Soliman told them he intended to kill the roughly 20 participants at the weekly demonstration on Boulder’s Pearl Street pedestrian mall.”

Karen Diamond, 81, has died “as a result of the severe injuries that she suffered” when Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national in the U.S. illegally, allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails at a group demonstrating in support of Israeli hostages, according to court documents filed by the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.

Soliman, who was indicted last week on 12 hate crime counts for the June 1 antisemitic terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, pleaded not guilty to those charges on Friday morning. He was represented in court by public defenders.

Of the eight individuals injured during the attack, Diamond, who is a Holocaust survivor, is the first to die. USA Today reported that prosecutors are adding first-degree murder charges to those Soliman already faces.

In addition to the new first-degree murder charges, prosecutors on June 30 also announced they have added 66 new state-level counts against Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, who is also facing federal hate crime charges. Soliman, a father of five who was an Uber driver, remains jailed. Federal officials said Soliman was living in the United States after overstaying his visa.

Police said Soliman, who is Muslim, confessed to targeting the “Run for their Lives” walk on Boulder’s Pearl Street pedestrian mall over what he felt was participants’ support for Israel’s war in Gaza. The weekly walk, which drew Jewish participants, was focused on the return of hostages taken by Hamas after attacking Israel in October 2023.

Police said he yelled “Free Palestine” during the attack.

Soliman now faces state charges for 29 victims in the attack, 13 of whom suffered physical injuries, along with animal cruelty charges in connection with a dog that was hurt.

Police said Soliman planned his attack for more than a year, and arrived in Boulder after driving from his home in Colorado Springs, stopping along the way to buy gasoline, glass bottles, a weed sprayer and flowers to provide a disguise.

The Associated Press reported:

Investigators say Soliman told them he intended to kill the roughly 20 participants at the weekly demonstration on Boulder’s Pearl Street pedestrian mall. But he threw just two of his over two dozen Molotov cocktails while yelling “Free Palestine.”

Soliman, … told investigators he tried to buy a gun but was not able to because he was not a “legal citizen.”

Soliman posed as a gardener and wore a construction vest to get close to the group before launching the attack, prosecutors allege.

According to the social media post below, although her death was only made public on June 30, Diamond passed away last Wednesday and was buried during a private family service before Shabbat.

“There are no words to express the pain of this horrific loss of our beloved member and friend,” Rabbi Marc Soloway wrote in the announcement of Diamond’s death below. “This event and the tragic loss of someone who has given so much of herself over the years to the Bonai community and beyond has impacted us all and we are sad and horrified. We will need to support each other as we process this loss.”

Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty said in a statement: “Part of what makes Colorado special is that people come together in response to a tragedy; I know that the community will continue to unite in supporting the Diamond family and all the victims of this attack.”

I would like to be locked into a sound proof room with this guy and a baseball bat for one minute. That’s all I ask for. I wish to educate him about the homerun prowess of Hank Greenberg.

Your anger is quite understand, but he’s not worth losing your soul over.

Such would truly be a tragedy.

Let our justice system deal with him, and then, hand him over to God.
He will know what to do…

Hey Greenberg was awesome and a hero to many Jews. I would love to extoll his virtues. He was the first major league to register for peacetime draft in 1940 and served in WW2. He had a sweet swing which I’d love to demonstrate to Soliman.

American ” justice” system has become a joke. Look at the No Kings Day protest in Dalt Lake City on June 14. A lib “peacekeeper” volunteering with 50/50/1 SLC shot and killed an innocent bystander and shot and wounded a spectator also carrying a rifle in an Open Carry state.

The protest organizers lied and blamed the wounded spectator who was just released from custody without charges filed because there is no evidence he was doing anything other than exercising his right to carry a firearm. Salt Lake City police refused to release the name of the “peacekeeper” shooter who fired his weapon into a crowd killing an innocent man and wounding another..

Why isn’t the lib shooter in custody facing at minimum manslaughter and reckless endangerment with a firearm charge?. The left calls Kyle Rittenhaus, who was found to have acted in self defense, a murderer, but they try to cover up the identity of their bumbling Marxist Militia guard.

Please contact the Salt Lake City police chief ( his email is on their website) and demand to know why SLC police are helping a liberal protest group cover up a murder.

shot and killed an innocent bystander and shot and wounded a spectator also carrying a rifle in an Open Carry state.

The protest organizers lied and blamed the wounded spectator who was just released from custody without charges filed because there is no evidence he was doing anything other than exercising his right to carry a firearm.

He was reported as having moved away from the crowd into a secluded area behind a wall, and begun manipulating an AR-15-style rife. When the peacekeepers drew their guns and ordered him to drop the weapon, he instead ran towards the crowd, holding his rifle in “a firing position”.

If this report is accurate, if he was in fact holding his rifle in a way that could reasonably be considered threatening, then they did the right thing stopping him. They had good reason to believe that he was about to start a mass shooting.

On the other hand his lawyer (of course) claims he never brandished the rifle, raised it, or pointed it at anyone. He’s been released subject to conditions, without any charges filed yet, but those may yet come. The case is still being investigated. He has to maintain his address and call in every day; the police have his passport and he can’t own firearms, until they decide whether to charge him.

Of course either way the shooter should have been a better shot, and not hit the bystander; but he’s probably a better shot than most policemen.

Beowulf didn’t lose his soul when he killed Grendel OR Grendel’s mother.

St. George killed the dragon and still became a saint.

Protecting people from monsters is a holy act, not damning.

Let me at ’em. I’m an atheist.

No, Mr Boulder DA, Colorado is not really special in people “coming together” after a tragedy. That happens all over America. What makes Colorado “special” is that you have probably done all you could, along with so many in Colorado, to ensure that very few people there could defend themselves against a wannabe mass murderer. What makes Colorado “special” is that this event went as far as it did.

Oh, and if this guy doesn’t receive the death penalty (which was abolished in Colorado in 2020) then that is also what makes Colorado “special.”

not letting people get medical treatment not covid related

The Peoples’ Democrat Republic of Colorado is as hardcore Leftist as they come. The Oblast of Boulder County makes the state as a whole look conservative. Having lived here for most of my 8 decades [and gone to school at the University of Colorado Boulder] I rather expect that there will be an appalling plea bargain deal that will end up dropping most charges and most penalties in return for nothing. Otherwise they might displease their Islamist friends/associates.

Jews need to learn to carry concealed. One person with one firearm might have been able to take out the perp before he had done too much damage.

Let’s not underestimate the importance of ccw but let’s not overestimate it either. This coward attacked from behind. By the time anyone knew they’d been attacked they were already on fire. A 9mm pistol is not going to protect someone from catching fire or being burned when doused from behind with flaming gasoline.

It might protect others. It might protect you as the attack begins by being able to stop him before he lights anyone else on fire. It’s not a magical shield, no. But it is a tool that applies in a lot more circumstances than just a thug demanding your car or money.

I believe one person was armed. By the time they responded, he was no longer directly attacking. I think they poorly defined “imminent” in that case.

Our friends….The saudis just paid for over 1000 plo families….

However, a new reward by the Saudi king to “honor” Palestinian terrorists’ families shows that the Saudi leadership does not reject Palestinian terror, nor those terrorists who murdered Israeli civilians.

Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas himself “thanked Saudi Arabia and its leadership for the generous grant they provided this year to 1,000 Palestinian pilgrims from among the families of the Martyrs, the prisoners, and the wounded” [Official PA TV News, June 9, 2025].

The relatives of “Martyrs, prisoners, and wounded” — meaning dead, imprisoned, and wounded terrorists — were flown to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

this pos just convicted of murder is one of their heros

Give this POS a very speedy, very fair trial. When found guilty quickly implement any appeal he might make, expedite it, and turn down the appeal.

True justice would be to sentence him to be thoroughly doused in gasoline and then set on fire, to momentarily suffer some of the pain and agony that his victims suffered and are suffering as they recover from (or have died of) horrific burns.

But my choice would be to act with mercy. Tell him he’s being released, and have a sniper put a round through the back of his head as he’s celebrating. Stick the remains in an unmarked hole in the middle of nowhere (we’ve got lots of sagebrush desert out here in the West) so no one can make a “shrine” to the “martyr”.

This could all be done within a week or two of his committing his crimes. But instead of a justice system, we have a multi-tiered “legal” system under which “special” people like this get treated with kid gloves instead of brass knuckles. If our country continues to do this long enough, people will simply start implementing justice on their own, rather than watching the catch-and-release process of our “legal” system.
